Two safety consultancies and the furniture firm they advised have appeared in court after separate incidents in which workers sustained hand injuries while operating machines. In the first incident, on 28 February 2014, a Jan Cavelle Furniture Company employee was using a woodworking tool called a biscuit jointer when the rotating blade caught his hand, cutting his thumb to the bone.
