The human factor

The precursor to the CIEHF was founded about 70 years ago and was the first body of its kind in the world. Now, there are 40 similar organisations dotted around the globe. In practice, the institute sets the competency framework in our sector and promotes the discipline in the UK and beyond. Fundamentally, ergonomics and human factors (EHF) is about improving the wellbeing of individuals, and the performance of teams, systems and organisations. It brings together several disciplines in a systems-based approach with an integrated design, to solve organisational and human issues.
