A recovering global economy from nearly two years of the pandemic appears to be on a “relatively solid footing” that underpins a bright view of oil markets going forward, the top executive at big oil services provider Baker Hughes said Oct. 20. But the pace of growth is being “hampered” by the persistent effects of the delta variant, as well as global chip shortages, supply chain issues and energy supply constraints in some areas, CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said during a third-quarter call.
