As much as we might wish the outside world never to impinge upon our beloved historic aviation scene, there are times when it becomes unavoidable. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic provided one good example. Longer-term, environmental concerns are not about to disappear. Nor can they be wished away as a fringe interest. Not long ago, it was possible - quite rightly - to cite the very small contribution made by heritage aircraft activities to greenhouse gas emissions. In the grand scheme of things, it still represents a drop in the ocean. However, as the years pass by, generations change and the future of the planet becomes ever more of a mainstream topic, I cannot help but wonder whether that argument in itself will continue to be enough. Can more be done to address the environmental impact issue directly?
