Regional Bonsai Care Ficus

As per our usual format, this issue's ABS Regional Care deals with variances in bonsai care in different geographical parts of the Americas. As always, we will first present a brief summary of care, then ask people with bonsai expertise from differentareas to tell us how they -do it. So why did we pick ficus? Ficus is a tropical species with many different varieties, the majority of which have a penchant for survival and aggressiveness. In fact, they are some of the most versatile and adaptable bonsai species available. This may be an understatement. Maybe we should say that short of freezing these tropical plants, the most ignorant bonsai neophyte in the world couldn't kill a ficus. Why, even a stone collector could grow one!
