OBAMA ADMINISTRATION SENDS CONGRESS PIPELINE SAFETY LEGISLATION

THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION has sent to Congress proposed legislation aimed at strengthening pipeline safety and enforcement. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said the recent pipeline incident in San Bruno, Calif., and oil pipeline failures in Michigan and Illinois show his department "needs stronger authority to ensure the continued safety and reliability of our nation's pipeline network."
