Laguna's Spitfire Legacy (LSL), the group behind the project to return Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IIb P8331/RF-M 'Sumatra' to the air, is currently looking for the original Rocker Cover that came from the aircraft's recovered Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Scott Booth, LSL's director, told Aviation News: "P8331 was lost over northern France on June 27 while being flown by acting Wg Cdr Piotr Laguna, the CO of 1 Polish Fighter Wing. Struck by enemy fire while attacking the Luftwaffe airfield at Coquelles near Calais, Laguna bailed out too low and was killed. The Spitfire hit the ground just to the west of the base. It appears the Germans removed the wings for evaluation while the rest remained untouched for 45 years."
