Up to 30,000 police officers might have been exposed to asbestos during firearms training, the Metropolitan Police Service has announced. The service, which covers all 32 London boroughs, said an audit by its Safety and Health Risk Management Team had found that some third party facilities it used for firearms training between 1980 and 2007 might have contained asbestos. The audit looked at about 80 sites around London, of which a few were found to have indications of asbestos.
