摘要

Sclerotium rolfsii is a soil inhabitant, polyphagous and a ubiquitous facultative parasite. The present research work was carried out to study the variability of S. rolfsii and to identify best markers for variability studies. In the present investigation a total of ten isolates of S. rolfsii were collected from few states of Indian subcontinent comprising from Manipur, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra pradesh. Analysis with RAPD and ISSR primers had showed that all the isolates were grouped into two main clusters at 6% and 20% similarity co-efficient. S. rolfsii isolates had a sequence identity of 24–98% among themselves, 13–100% with other isolates in comparison with sequences retrieved from NCBI. Present study elucidated that molecular markers like RAPD and ISSR can be well employed for analyzing variability but based on the results of analysis like polymorphic information content and marker index, RAPD can be suggested as the best marker system for variability analysis in S. rolfsii.
