Sweden-based automaker Volvo Cars saw a 178% increase in global sales of battery electric vehicles during the second quarter, supported by healthy growth across each of its key regions, it said July 20. Sales of BEVs reached 29,200 units during Q2, up from 10,500 in Q2 2022 but down from the 30,100 sold during Q1 2023. BEV sales increased to 16% total share of quarterly sales, up from 7% in the same quarter last year while sales of Volvo's plugin Recharge vehicles increased to 39%, up from 31%.a year ago Total vehicle sales during the quarter were reported at 178,800 units, up 25% year on year.
