BANACH ALGEBRAS WITH INVOLUTION AND SPECTRAL SETS

Using the notion of a spectral set introduced by von-Neumann, we give some characterizations ofC+-algebras. Two conditions, each of which is necessary and sufficient for a Banach algebra to be uniform, are also obtained.
