摘要

Federal regulations—particularly the looming operator qualifiction rule—and a shrinking workforc are among the biggest concerns facing utility contractors. They were the focal points of the 29th Annual Contractors Roundtable sponsored by Pipeline & Gas Journal and its sister publication, Underground Construction. Held in conjunction with the Distribution Contractors Association fall board meeting in Dallas, the participants were: Mike D. Murphy, Executive Vice President/COO, Murphy Bros. Inc., East Moline, IL; Dennis Klumb, Jr., Vice President & General Counsel, Arby Construction Inc., New Berlin, WI; Robert C. Lyons, President, Michigan Trenching Service, Ypsilanti, MI; Fred W. Cripps, President, Distribution Construction Co., Greensboro, NC; Vinson N. Davidson, Division President, MasTec, Dallas, TX. The roundtable, portions of which are excerpted here, was conducted by Underground Construction Editor Robert Carpenter.
