Russian pipeline operator Transneft said Nov. 17 crude flows through the Druzhba pipeline, Europe’s main land-based crude oil artery from Russia, had been reduced due to unplanned maintenance being carried out on a section of the route in Belarus. The unusual shutdown by Belarusian operator Gomeltransneft comes a day after Germany refused to provide a crucial certification for supplies through Russia’s new Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, as well as tensions on the Belarus-Poland border.
