A sewage pipe maker has been fined 200,000 pounds after ignoring a worker's complaints about the early symptoms of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS). Asset International manufactures large diameter pipes. In 2011, a member of its fabrication team, who used reciprocating saws to cut the pipes, developed tingling and numbness in his hands. After unsuccessfully approaching his manager, the worker visited his GP, who told him it was the early stages of vibration white finger and that he should leave his job.
