Onbehalf of the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), I would like to congratulate the Indian Academy of Echocardiography (IAE) on its silver jubilee. Since its inception in 1994, the IAE has become a strong beacon of echocardiography across south Asia with over 2700 members. Just like the ASE and several other prominent professional organizations, the IAE started as an enthusiastic concept discussed by the dedicated few with a common dream to grow a field of the science of echocardiography. That was the easy part. The challenge was to make that dream a reality and make difficult choices along the way. But a long way it has come. From hosting international meetings like the 6th World Congress of Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound in 2002, and its 16th edition in 2011, to partnering with the ASE, the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, and the Asian Pacific Association of Echocardiography, the IAE has truly become a global organization. It is remarkable that the IAE celebrates the 25th year of its existence as the ASE celebrates its 30th annual scientific sessions in the same year. These two partners in echocardiography have a single purpose: to be the professional home for all echo enthusiasts and to promote excellence in cardiovascular ultrasound. The ASE and IAE have been partners since the creation of the IAE and have collaborated in several ways, including joint sessions, educational events, guideline standardization, humanitarian outreach events, and, also, the highly successful 2nd World Summit in Echocardiography in Gurgaon in 2013.
