The new RCGP curriculum offers a user-friendly and practical approach to describe the attitudes, skills and expertise required to be a GP in the UK. It aligns with the General Medical Council (GMC) generic professional capabilities framework 2017, while setting out the educational framework of the specialty and takes into account the skills and qualities required by GPs today. In addition to the essential knowledge guides, it also includes information on training requirements and assessments. In this article we look at some of the new changes to the curriculum. The GMC-approved version of the curriculum is available online on the RCGP website via www. rcgp.org.uk/training-exams/training/gp-curriculum-overview/ document-version.aspx.
