Exposure dependences of photostimulated decay of radiation color centers in glasses

This paper discusses the spatial distributions of the absorption of radiation color centers formed in extended samples of glasses as a result of the successive action of directed flows of gamma and optical radiations on them. An experimental technique has been developed that makes it possible to determine the exposure dependences of the absorption of color centers that decay under the action of light and the connection of the parameters of these dependences with the values of the gamma-radiation dose. It is shown that, by comparison with traditional techniques, the newly developed technique makes it possible to substantially reduce the amount of irradiation of the samples and to increase the accuracy and detail of the results. The new experimental possibilities obtained in this paper are used to investigate TF5 lead-silicate glass. (C) 2008 Optical Society of America.
