摘要

In this study, antioxidant and antimycotic characteristics and chemical ingredients of the plants Salvia cryptantha, Onobrychis tournefortii, Hedysarum cappadocicum, Linum hirsutum subsp. anatolicum var. anatolicum, and Convolvulus galaticus, growing naturally and endemic in Ankara, capital of Turkiye, were investigated. Essential oil contents of the plant specimens were extracted by applying hydro-distillation technique by using Clevenger apparatus and analysed by using GC-MS. Structure of approximately 30 different components of each plant extract were analysed with the comparison of literature data. Antimicrobial potentials of the extracts derived from the plants were assessed by comparing them with the plant and human pathogens. In order to determine antioxidant properties of the extracts, their total phenolic content values were calculated first and their DPPH free radical scavenging activities and their iron ion reduction power potentials were studied. The research data show that ethanol extracts obtained from these five plants, endemic in Ankara environs, have antimicrobial properties of various ratios in comparison to all of the tested Gram-negative and Gram-positive strains and plant pathogen strains. Growth of primarily Listeria monocytogenes, a human pathogen, and Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis bacteria was affected negatively at the highest level by the tested plant extracts.
