Brian Snelten, PG, (right) receives the gavel to become the 2022 National Ground Water Association president from Merritt Partridge at the NGWA Delegates Meeting December 15 in Nashville, Tennessee. The event was part of Groundwater Week 2021 which took place December 14-16, and drew 4171 attendees, making it the 21st largest NGWA annual conference and the largest ever held outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Snelten, an area manager for Layne Christensen, a Granite Company, in Aurora, Illinois, is a fourth-generation water well contractor. The gavel exchange between him and Partridge was delayed one year as the COVID-19 pandemic forced Groundwater Week 2020 to be virtual only, making Partridge NGWA's second president to serve two years. A full recap of Groundwater Week 2021 will be in the February 2022 issue of Water Well Journal. Photo courtesy Chris Casella.
