IN ITS bid to secure the UK MOD'S highly sought New Medium Helicopter (NMH) contract, Airbus Helicopters has revealed the first members of its UK-based industry team, dubbed the 'H175M Task Force', in the lead-up to FIA.The announcement was made on July 15 and confirmed the initial team members who will offer the H175M to the UK and, if selected, will subsequently supply and support the UK-produced examples of the type in British military service. The firms involved in the team include Babcock, Martin-Baker, Pratt & Whitney Canada and Spirit AeroSystems. Airbus will announce more 'H175M Task Force' partner companies in due course.As part of the team, Babcock will play an active role in supporting the H175M at base from where the helicopter would be operated, if successful. This would most likely be RAF Benson, Oxfordshire, which houses the Royal Air Force's (RAF) current Puma HC2 fleet.
