Reproductive performance and chemical composition and quality of meat from Sudan Baladi (SB), New Zealand White (NZW) and California (CAL) rabbits were compared. SB rabbits breed had smaller litter size, lighter birth wt. and smaller weaned litter-size than NZW or CAL rabbits. Weaning wt. was similar in the 3 breeds. Still birth and mortality rates were lower in SB than in the other 2 breeds. SB rabbit meat had a lower moisture and higher fat content than NZW. SB meat was darker red and tougher than NZW meat.
