The EU published details of its sixth sanctions package against Russia June 3, including phasing out Russian crude imports in six months, and other refined products in eight months. The sanctions were effective immediately but include transition periods and some temporary exemptions, the EU said in a statement. “This will allow the EU and its partners to secure alternative supplies and minimizes the impact on global oil prices,” the statement said. The EU estimates that in 2021 it imported Eur48 billion (about ff52 billion) worth of crude oil and Eur23 billion of refined oil products from Russia.
