PUBLIC SERVICES and Procurement Canada (PSPC), the Canadian government's central purchasing agency, announced on December 1 that, following evaluation of submitted proposals, the country's Future Fighter Capability Project (FFCP) has been reduced to just two remaining bidders. These comprise the Swedish and US governments. The Swedish offer comes from Saab, in association with Diehl Defence GmbH and Co KG, MBDA UK Ltd and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems Ltd proposing the Gripen E. The US bid is from Lockheed Martin, in association with Pratt & Whitney, offering the F-35 Lightning II. This means that Boeing's F/A-18 Super Hornet is no longer being considered.
