The community of rumen bacteria was analyzed by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplification and sequencing of 16S rDNA clone library prepared from the rumen fluid of two native Philippine goats. Twenty one clones were selected from 77 based on its digestion pattern of amplicons by using a set of restriction enzymes. The 21 clones containing almost full-sized 16S rDNA sequences (about 1.5 kb long) were sequenced from uncultured bacteria based on similarity of sequences in Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST).
