Is ASCE Leadership a Closed Club Or Can Anyone Join?

In this issue you'll find biographical sketches of those seeking national leadership positions in ASCE. These individuals have all worked to improve the profession of civil engineering through service to ASCE, and they are now asking for your support to become national leaders and serve on the Board of Direction. Civil engineering is a profession, not a trade, and definitely not an eight-to-five job. A profession requires dedication that extends far beyond one's duties at work. In his book The American Civil Engineer, William Wisely defines the civil engineering profession as "the pursuit of a learned art in the spirit of public service."
