Fujimori Named 2003 Henry L. Michel Award Winner

Toshiaki Fujimori, the managing officer and director of the Institute of Technology of the Shimizu Corporation, of Japan, has been named the 2003 winner of the Henry L. Michel Award for Industry Advancement of Research by the Board of Directors of the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF). The award will be presented on November 4 in conjunction with Technology and Innovation for Productivity Gains, a program organized by CERF's Corporate Advisory Board that will be held November 4-5 at the Hotel Monaco in Washington, D.C. Established in 1996, the award is presented to individuals in the design and construction industry who strive to highlight the importance of research and development to the industry and increase industry involvement in this area. It was established to acknowledge and thank industry leaders whose dedication and vision on behalf of CERF and the industry provide the cornerstones for improving the quality of people's lives around the world through research. CERF's board named the award in honor of Henry L. Michel, whose career encompassed nearly 50 years of highly diversified engineering activities and who was dedicated to CERF since the time of its foundation.
