Future Unit Fish Bypass Planned for Wanapum Dam

In the spring of 2007, Public Utility District No. 2 of Grant County will test a future unit fish bypass at the 1,038-MW Wanapum Dam. This system, which takes advantage of attraction flows from the turbines, is expected to further improve survival of salmon smolts passing the dam, helping the utility reach its target 95 percent dam passage survival rate.
