A new species of triangular back stick insect (Phasmatodea: Heteropterygidae: Eubulidini: Tisamenus) from Mt. Kanlaon, Negros Occidental, Philippines

摘要

A new species of triangular back stick insect, Tisamenus alviolanus Lit & Eusebio sp. nov., is described from Mount Kanlaon, Negros Occidental. Negros Island, Philippines. The description is based on the adult male and female as well as eggs extracted from the latter. This is the 18(th) species in this endemic Philippine genus. Tisamenus alviolanus is presently cot:fined to the slopes of Mount Kanlaon and faces threats not only from frequent volcanic activity but also front increasing human activities including probable geothermal power generation in the area.
