In the past several years, flat-panel TVs took center stage at 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), as manufacturers highlighted easy-to-under-stand features, such as large screens and ultra-thin panels. However, this year, flat-panel TVs were not so prominent. The technologies for such TVs have matured, making such TVs less of an eye-popping attraction.Nonetheless, TVs remain a central piece of equipment in almost all households and technological innovations continue to appear.In the category of flat-panel TVs, Toshiba Corp displayed its Cell TV, which has innovative features that attracted notice. Market introduction of the Cell TV is planned for fall in 2009.Toshiba's Cell TVs employ a Cell ultra-high-performance processor platform customized for TVs, thereby achieving levels of image quality, storage performance, network performance and operability that have not been attained by conventional TVs.
