The U.S. Senate voted 81-12 on Sept. 24 to send the Water Resources Development Act (H.R. 1495) conference report to the White House. The bill would authorize the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to spend $23.2 billion for hurricane protection, flood control, ecosystem restoration, and navigation projects. Of the total amount, which would cover about 940 projects, approximately $7 billion would be spent on coastal restoration along the Louisiana coast.
