As oil industry proOts pile up, so are the political calls for those proOts to be taxed. The top Democrat on the US Senate Finance Committee, Oregon's Ron Wyden, has a new proposal that would target oil company proOts and levy an excise tax on stock buybacks. Wyden’s proposal would charge a 21 tax on proOts above a 10 return on expenses. Those taxes would be added to any income taxes that are already owed by the company, according to a statement by Wyden’s ofOce.
