Brussels-The EU commodity derivatives market was worth about Eur70 trillion ($80 trillion) in 2016, based on new estimates published by EU financial authority ESMA. “The figures...include EU venues and overthe-counter trades where at least one party is located in the EU,” ESMA spokesman Reemt Seibel told S&P Global Platts on Monday. ESMA published Friday estimated secondhalf 2016 double-sided gross notional values for each commodity derivative class, and suggested they could be doubled to give a rough full year estimate.
