As part of a collaborative national enterprise approach to delivering NGAS, the Team Pellonia industry partners will work together to offer platform-level integrated self-protection systems based on 'building blocks' drawn from the three companies. The architecture is compliant with the NATO Defensive Aids System standard - STANAG 4781 - which has codified a standardised open architecture and common message set to support plug-and-play integration of threat warning sensors and countermeasure effectors on operational platforms. At the core of the NGAS capability is Leonardo's Modular Advanced Platform Protection System Controller (MAPPS-C). As the 'brain' of the system, MAPPS-C integrates the various different DAS components - the threat warning sensors, onboard effectors and offboard expendables - in order to evaluate threats, build situational awareness, establish threat priorities and cue the appropriate countermeasures in a synchronised manner.
