Controlling the temporal parameters of the lasing pulse of an Yb-Er-glass laser with a shutter based on frustrated total internal reflection
The operating lag across the cross section of the working zone of an optomechanical frustrated-total-internal-reflection shutter has been measured. It is shown that the operating lag affects the shape of the lasing pulse of an Yb-Er glass laser with various control-signal parameters. The conditions are indicated for obtaining the minimum lasing pulse width at a fixed output energy for a given laser configuration and shutter design.
