Equinor CEO Anders Opedal said on Wednesday that the decision to sanction the controversial Rosebank oil project had been "difficult" while restating the company's commitment to a “balanced” energy transition strategy. The state-controlled Norwegian oil and gas major announced a final investment decision in September for the UK offshore Rosebank project, which has become a lightning rod for climate activists. "I think it's important in a democracy that we have different views, that they're allowed to protest. Obviously in the energy transition there are no easy answers, " Opedal told the Energy Intelligence Forum in London.
