Dr.Pereira: Good afternoon. My name is Filipe Pereira,associate professor at Lund University and editor-in-chiefof Cellular Reprogranming. I am very happy to bring you anew episode of Reprogramming Stars, our flagship seriesthat captures the findings, projects, and ideas of the leadersin cellular reprogramming.Today we have Dr. KatieGalloway,assistant professor and Charles and HildaRoddey Career Development Professor in chemical engi-neering at MIT. As a chemical engineer working in stemcell and molecular systems biology, her research focuses onelucidating the fundamental principles of constructing andintegrating synthetic circuitry to drive cellular repro-gramming. Katie earned her BS in chemical engineeringfrom University of California,Berkeley, her PhD in che-mical engineering at Caltech with a minor in biology , anddid her postdoc at University of Southern California StemCell before starting at MIT in the fall of 2019.At MIT, herlaboratory leverages synthetic biology to understand cell-fate transitions with the goal of building genetic controllersthat support disease modeling and cell-based therapies.
