Photothermal characterisation of the structural and optical effects of plasma-sprayed coatings

Thermal wave measurements based on infrared detection are used to analyse the thermal and optical properties of plasma-sprayed coatings. The measured depth profiles are explained by optical effects and by the mesoscopic and macroscopic structure of the coatings, which are related to the deposition process during plasma spraying.
