This paper describes an attempt to reduce the noise caused by a passenger car driving on a rough roadwithin the head movable ranges of two passengers sitting on the rear seat by means of active noisecontrol using adaptive filters. Output levels of the adaptive filters were analyzed to determine thecontribution ratio of each road noise source to the road noise generation. By taking an appropriatemeasure against the road noise sources based on the analysis results, the road noise was reduced inaccordance with their contribution ratios.
