Expect more intense rivalry from the dollar store channel

Dollar General revealed plans during its recent earningscall that could lead to more intense competition for theconvenience customer.The heated rivalry is coming not from the fuel category– as DG's fuel outlet count remains just under 40 units – butin the refrigerated and freezer categories. The companysaid it added more than 65,000 cooler doors across itsstore base in 2021 and this year intends to install morethan 65,000 additional doors, continuing to "build onour multiyear track record of growth in cooler doors andassociated sales."
