Out of Russia, EU frms step up Norway investments

Forced to forgo gas production from Russian assets they have spent years invest- ing in, European producers now plan to step up their eforts in Norway, Europe’s leading oil and gas producer. Norway has been piping more gas than Russia to Europe since last autumn. But since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Norwegian volumes have dwarfed Russian ones as Moscow has whittled down gas exports (see chart). The trick now will be how to maintain Norway’s boosted gas fows.
