The purpose of this paper is to describe the experimental fact on emergence of surface acoustic soliton in 128° Y-X LiNbO{sub}3 crystal. The measurement on velocity and profile of SAW was carried out by Raman-Nath scattering method using He-Ne laser. In order to confirm whether or not observed SAW packet is a soliton, we attempt to make a comparison between it and simulation curve computed by nonlinear Schrodinger equation. We found that the second harmonic of the SAW packet was acoustic soliton-like wave (ASLW) with the character of envelope type soliton.
