Analogue television UHF transmitters throughout the UK are being replaced in preparation for the switch to digital TV. STARTING IN 2008 and ending around 2012, region by region, TV services for the UK's 22 million households will go completely digital. A government mandated national programme, Digital Switchover (DSO) has been described as the biggest and most complex broadcast engineering project ever undertaken in the UK. The programme will see the country's entire terrestrial television infrastructure, which took 30 years to build, replaced and rebuilt within five years.
