Commodity trading company Trafigura, e-fuels company Hy2gen and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners are planning a 240 MW green ammonia production facility in Norway to produce fuel for the marine sector, with front-end engineering design underway, Trafigura said in a statement Feb. 3. The Iverson eFuels green ammonia plant in the Sauda municipality in southwest Norway will have an initial electrolyzer capacity of 240 MW to produce 600 mt/day of renewable ammonia from hydrogen. A full plan for the facility construction will be ready by 2023, with construction scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2024 and full operations from the beginning of 2027.
