An examination is made of the allowed sets of foursp3‐hybrid orbitals satisfying the symmetry requirements of the point groupsC2vandC3v, the object of the analysis being to aid in the formalization of the study of deviations from the ideal tetrahedral valence angle, found in systems of symmetry lower thanTd.Tables of allowed interorbital angles are given.
