Effect of sowing time, crop density and weed control on the heading and maturity of bread wheat.

In field experiments in 1990/91 to 1992/93 at Pirsabak, Pakistan, wheat was sown on 15 October, November or December at rates of 50, 100 or 150 kg seed/ha, and was not weeded, hand weeded or sprayed with Dicuran [chlorotoluron] + MCPA. Days to heading and maturity were least with December 15 sowing and greatest with November 15 sowing, and increased with increasing sowing rate. Weed control did not affect days to heading, while days to maturity were greater without than with weed control.
