Fostering the dialogue between oil producers and consumers is not only desirable but absolutely necessary to promote growth, trade and economic progress, suggests HE Ali I Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This gathering shows how much the world has changed since Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, among others, started the first producer co-operation as a prelude to the birth of OPEC in September of 1960.
