Marine industries-shipping, ports, and offshore structures and equipment-share a priority: worker safety. For as long as these structures have been around, birds have used them to perch, roost, and nest. Bird presence on marine equipment, however frequent or infrequent, can cause significant health and safety concerns for employees. The costs associated with these increased health risks to workers due to bird activity on marine infrastructure have long been considered inevitable, but these recurrent costs can be avoided by taking simple measures to protect infrastructure with effective bird deterrents.
