European Commission dismisses call to extend CAP Strategic Plan deadline

The European Commission has pushed back against calls to give member states’ more time to submit their Strategic Plans for the 2023-27 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Tassos Haniotis, deputy director general at the Commission’s agriculture department, said the EU is “already two years late” and that granting an extension beyond 2021 would mean further delays down the road.
