This month we cover care of older adults.Clinical example 3.05: Care of older adults. This statement focuses on the skills and qualities needed to manage problems relating to the care of older adults in primary care. Topics include areas such as dealing with complex comorbidity, recognising the signs of cancer in older adults, multidisciplinary working, mechanisms of ageing, end-of-life issues, poly-pharmacy and many more. As the numbers of older patients grow, there is increasing importance in managing such patients holistic-ally and effectively, and there are many ways trainees can develop skills in these areas.
