Proposed is an efficient computation scheme of the Image Method employing Ray-Tracing as its pre-processing. The method reduces computation time drastically by detecting candidate walls on which effective sound rays reflect referring computation results of Ray-Tracing Candidate walls are identified as those included in sound rays that pass through an "evaluation sphere" whose center is located at the listening position. In conventional Image Methods, the maximum number of reflection is determined as possible single stop condition considering computation power and precision requirement, but the Image Method can not use energy thresholds as the stop condition. Hence, it is impossible for the conventional Image Method to explore all the possible reflection paths that retain specified energy level at the listening point, the proposed method removes the largest difficulty of the conventional Image Method. Comparing the proposed method and the conventional Image Method, the former shows drastic improvements in computation time.
